How Much Does a Hot Tub Cost in the UK? A 2026 Buyer’s Guide

If you have landed here, you want a number. Not a brochure. So here it is up front: in 2026, a new hot tub in the UK typically costs between £3,500 and £18,000, with most people spending around £6,000 to £9,000 once delivery, electrics and a cover are included.
That price range is wide for a reason. What you actually pay depends on the seat count, the insulation, the pump and jet setup, whether you want a full plug-and-play 13-amp model or a 32-amp hardwired tub, and whether delivery needs a crane or a simple wheel-in.
This guide walks through every real cost, in the order you will hit them. We have sold hot tubs across the UK since 2011, so the figures below are what people actually pay, not list prices nobody pays.
The tub itself: what you are paying for
Hot tub prices in the UK break into three bands. Entry, mid-range, and premium.
Entry level: £3,500 – £5,500
These are solid plug-and-play tubs. 3 to 4 seats, single pump, good insulation, and a 13-amp plug that goes into a normal outdoor socket. They heat up slower than premium tubs and the jet count is lower, but for two people having a soak a few nights a week, they are a very sensible buy.
- Typical power: 13 amp, plug-and-play
- Seat count: 2 to 5
- Heat-up time from cold fill: 12 to 24 hours
- Best for: couples, small gardens, first-time owners
Mid-range: £6,000 – £10,000
This is where most people end up. Dual pumps, better foam insulation, smarter controls, LED lighting, and usually a step up in jet quality and cabinet build. Many mid-range tubs can run on a 32-amp hardwired supply, which means faster recovery after use and hotter water in winter.
- Typical power: 13 or 32 amp
- Seat count: 4 to 7
- Better insulation means lower running cost per month
Premium: £10,000 – £18,000+
Premium tubs will most likely have full-foam or multi-density insulation, multi-pump hydrotherapy circuits, in-built audio, chromotherapy lighting and heavy-duty cabinets. At this level you are buying longevity as much as luxury. Expect a 10 to 15 year lifespan with proper care.
Installation costs: the bit most people forget
The tub is one price. Getting it running in your garden is another.
- Base: a level concrete pad or properly rated decking is the biggest single add-on. Budget £400 to £1,500 depending on groundwork.
- Electrics: a plug-and-play tub needs a dedicated outdoor RCD socket, usually £150 to £300. A 32-amp hardwire needs a qualified electrician and typically runs £400 to £900.
- Delivery: most UK deliveries are £150 to £400. If your access is tight — through a house, over a wall, awkward side gate — a crane lift can add £300 to £800.
- Water fill: a standard tub holds around 1,500 litres. On a metered supply that is roughly £4 to £6 per fill.
Running costs: what you pay to use it
This is the question people ask most, so we wrote a full breakdown on our electricity cost post (linked below). The short version for 2026:
- A well-insulated 4-seater on UK average electricity (27p per kWh) costs around £40 to £60 per month to run.
- A poorly insulated or oversized tub used hard in winter can hit £90 to £130 per month.
- Chemicals work out at roughly £10 to £20 per month.
- Filters need replacing every 12 to 18 months, about £30 to £80 each.
What you do not need to spend money on
Some products are genuinely worth it. Some are not. Before you sign anything:
- You do not need a gazebo or enclosure for the tub to work, a good insulated cover does the job. Add a gazebo later if you want year-round use in heavy rain.
- You do not need a branded chemical starter kit at premium prices. A generic bromine or chlorine kit from a reputable supplier works identically.
- You do not need Wi-Fi controls unless you will actually use them. Most people turn them on twice and never again.
A realistic total budget
Put all of the above together and a realistic first-year total for most UK buyers of a mid-range tub looks like this:
- Tub: £4-7k+
- Base + electrics: £900* (Prices can vary on your electrician)
- Delivery: £350* (Could vary on distance)
- First-year running + chemicals: £700* (Could vary on how much you use it and the brand of chemicals)
