Buying a swim spa at A6

Swim, train and relax, all year round

A swim spa is a pool and a hot tub in one compact unit. Swim against a current, train, recover, then warm up in the spa seats, in your own garden, every month of the year.

From enquiry to first swim, in five steps

1

Find your swim spa

Browse the swim spas and choose by length, use and your space.

2

Enquire

It is a big buy, so call the team and we will help you pick the right size and current.

3

Site survey

We check your base, access and power. A swim spa is large and heavy, so it usually needs a firm base and a crane.

4

Delivery and install

Our BISHTA and SPATA certified team, or our colleagues at Oasis, deliver, position and set it up. Have an electrician ready to connect it.

5

Dive in

Swim, train, recover and relax, through winter as well as summer.

How a swim spa works

A powerful current runs down the length of the spa, and you swim on the spot against it, like a treadmill for swimming. Turn the current up to train hard, or down to float and stretch.

Many swim spas add warm hydrotherapy seats for recovery, and some are dual-zone, with a separate swim area and a hot tub kept at different temperatures, so you can train and then soak without leaving the unit.

Which swim spa suits you

Swim spas come in a few shapes. The right one depends on whether you want to train seriously, keep fit, or mostly relax. Ours are Riptide.

Compact swim spa

Fitness and hydrotherapy

Shorter spas for aqua fitness, resistance work and warm hydrotherapy. The kindest on space and running cost.

~4m typical length

Full swim spa

Serious swim training

A longer pool and a stronger current for proper, continuous swimming. The one to pick if training is the point.

~5m typical length

Dual-zone swim spa

Swim and spa in one

A separate swim area and hot tub, each at its own temperature, so you train then switch straight to a warm soak.

5m+ typical length

In short: compact to keep fit, full-length to train, dual-zone for the best of both. [Insert your exact Riptide models and sizes here.]

How to choose the right swim spa

Five things decide it. Get these right and the spa does the rest.

Length and current

The longer the spa and the stronger the current, the better for real swim training. For fitness and relaxing, a compact model is plenty.

One zone or two

A single warm pool, or a dual-zone with a separate hot tub. Dual-zone costs more but swims and soaks at the same time.

Space, base and access

A swim spa is big and very heavy once filled. It needs a flat, load-bearing base and room to crane it in. We check all of it first.

Power

Swim spas run on a dedicated supply wired by an electrician. We confirm the exact requirement for your model before you buy.

Running cost

A swim spa uses far less water and energy than a pool. Good insulation and a cover keep the day-to-day cost sensible.

Swim spa or swimming pool?

A swim spa gives you most of what a pool does in a fraction of the space, cost and upkeep. It heats a small volume of water, so it is usable all year, not just a few warm weeks, and it is far cheaper to run and maintain than a full pool.

And on price: we are the UK’s lowest-priced seller on brand-new Riptide swim spas,* so you get a serious swim spa without the pool-sized bill. Ask us for a quote.

Frequently asked questions

+ How much does a swim spa cost?

Prices depend on length, the strength of the current and whether it is dual-zone. We price brand-new Riptide swim spas as low as anyone in the UK.* Tell us how you want to use it and we will give you a real figure.

+ How does a swim spa work?

A current flows down the length of the spa and you swim on the spot against it, as long as you like, without ever reaching a wall. You adjust the speed to train hard or to float and stretch.

+ Swim spa or swimming pool, which is better?

A swim spa costs far less to buy, run and maintain, fits where a pool never could, and stays warm all year. A pool wins on sheer size. For most gardens and most budgets, a swim spa is the smarter call.

+ What size swim spa do I need?

Around 4m suits aqua fitness and hydrotherapy, 5m and up is better for serious, continuous swim training. Think about how you will use it, then the space you have.

+ Can you actually swim in a swim spa?

Yes. The current lets you swim continuously on the spot for as long as you want. Stronger currents suit faster, fitter swimmers, and the speed is fully adjustable.

+ How much does a swim spa cost to run?

Far less than a pool, because it heats a small, insulated volume of water. The exact cost depends on the model, the temperature and how often you use it. Keep the cover on and it stays sensible.

+ Can a swim spa be used all year?

Yes, that is the whole point. The small, heated, insulated body of water stays warm through winter, so you swim and relax in every season.

+ Do I need planning permission for a swim spa?

Usually not for a swim spa in a domestic garden. It is more likely if your home is listed or in a conservation area, so check with your local authority if that applies to you.

+ How is a swim spa delivered and installed?

It is craned onto a prepared, load-bearing base and connected to a dedicated supply. Our certified team handles delivery and positioning, and you arrange a qualified electrician for the connection.

+ What is a dual-zone swim spa?

A dual-zone swim spa has a separate swim area and hot tub in one unit, each kept at its own temperature. You train in the cooler swim end, then move to the warmer spa seats to recover.

+ Are swim spas worth it?

If you want year-round swimming, low-impact fitness or recovery at home without the cost and footprint of a pool, yes. It earns its place far faster than a pool does.
